Universal Credit

Some immigration schemes such as the EU Settlement Scheme or the Ukraine schemes, allow you to claim benefits if you meet some criteria. The Work Rights Centre have designed a short quiz that can help you determine if you are eligible to claim Universal Credit.

NRPF Network

If you have No Resource to Public Funds, visit the NRPF Network’s site to find the support that is available to you.

National Data Bank

Refugees may be able to access 15GB data and free calls and texts for 30 days. Or 20GB per month of Vodaphone data and free calls and texts, for up to six months. To apply for the scheme or for more information, please email libraries@lbbd.gov.uk or call/speak to a staff member at the Barking Learning Centre Community Hub or Dagenham Library Community Hub.

The Refugee and Migrant Forum of Essex and London is an asylum and immigration advice centre that offers advice, support and advocacy services for migrants.

Legal Aid

Ultimate counselling are a local organisation that offer community based support services. They offer free mental health support aimed at BAME communities. As well as immigration legal support and a range of activities.

No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) Support

No Recourse to Public Funds Team

Barking and Dagenham Council have a No Recourse to Public Funds team. For support email them at NRPF@lbbd.gov.uk.

NRPF Benefits

A person with NRPF is only excluded from claiming benefits that are classed as ‘public funds’. But they may be able to claim any other benefit if they meet the qualifying requirements. Find out more here.

Healthy Start Scheme and Free School Meals

Women who are pregnant, and children under 4 years old are eligible to the Healthy Start Scheme, even if you are NRPF. All children also have the right to free school meals. Find out more here.
