Support for Carers

  • Advice for Carers

    If you are regularly looking after someone who is ill or disabled, you may be entitled to financial support as a carer. Visit the Barking and Dagenham website to find out more about the Carer’s Allowance and the other forms of support you can claim.

    They offer information and support for local carers, including welfare and benefits advice to make sure you are getting the benefits you’re entitled to.

  • Healthy Start Scheme

    If you’re at least 10 weeks pregnant, or you have at least one child that’s under 4 and are on a low income, you might be eligible for the Healthy Start Scheme. Through the scheme, you can get a Healthy Start card with money on it that can be used to buy healthy food and milk.

    Little Village provides equipment, clothes and toys to families with children under 5 years old.

  • Free School Holiday Activities

    The Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) Programme is free to children and young people who live or go to school in Barking and Dagenham and are eligible for benefit-related free school meals, with paid places available for everyone.
