Help with Broadband Costs

The Cost of living is making our money stretch more than ever before.

One thing we can all do is check our bills and make sure we’re getting the best value we can. As broadband is such an important part of life now, it’s the logical place to begin when trying to save money.

Switch and save

The easiest way to save a little money each month is to reduce your broadband bill. Millions of people’s contracts have finished and could be paying too much for their broadband.

  1. Assess whether your current broadband package is enough, or too much.
  2. Enter your postcode into a comparison website and check what’s available in your area.
  3. You can change your package without compromising on speed or quality.
  4. Many providers offer introductory discounts to attract new customers. Some offer gift cards, free gifts or discounts. Select the incentive that’s right for you.

Important to note

If you’re still within the fixed term part of your contract, make a note of when it ends and set a reminder to compare and save.

If you switch online and aren’t happy, you have a 14-day cooling off period where you can change your mind without penalty.

Broadband social tariffs

If you’re in receipt of benefits, most broadband providers offer social tariffs.

These are cheaper contracts that offer a similar speed and level of service as any other contract.

Check with your current provider to see if they offer a social tariff. Otherwise:

Reducing my broadband with the same contract

You can renew if you’re out of contract, probably for a lower price.

We recommend comparing deals just in case there are better options, but you could save up to £130 per year by going for a cheaper deal even with your current provider.

Struggling with monthly payments

You won’t immediately get cut off if you’re struggling to make your monthly payment.

  • Talk to your provider
  • explain your situation
  • check to see if they can work out a solution and see if you can get a cheaper deal. The provider should be willing to help if you’re trying to take control of the situation.

Staying connected during the cost-of-living crisis

Check your contract, compare the market and don’t be afraid to switch if you find a better deal. It’s easier than you might think!
